Meet Mark
MWN Counseling and Wellness is the private practice of Mark W. Nettles, LPC
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, I was happy to return to my home town in 2008 to discover the next stage of my career journey. After over a decade of experience as an educator in three different states, I chose to shift from teaching English and philosophy toward writing and training for my eventual role of guiding others toward healing and wellness. I earned my M. S. in Counseling Psychology from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2012, and have since worked full-time as a therapist. My experience includes counseling individuals at The Center for Behavioral Health, and serving clients as a long-term therapy associate at Dr. Bruce McCormick's Medical Psychology practice. Since 2021, I have continued to develop my work through my solo private practice, MWN Counseling and Wellness.
My professional life has been dedicated to helping individuals of all ages. I find that understanding the unique experiences of others, by meeting them as they are in the moment, continues to allow me to find new and powerful insights that inform my career as a licensed professional counselor.
Creating space for others to be fully seen, heard, and understood remains a daily goal in my life's work of helping others find the most authentically meaningful and purposeful version of their self from which to engage in the process of healing and wellness.
When I am not working hard at the office (did I mention work yet? we are always "doing the work"), it is my joy to spend time with my wonderfully wise young adult daughters and stay in touch with family and friends. My leisure interests are myriad and I try to enhance the passing time by writing, playing music with friends, building my library, cooking, forest bathing, researching, walking, painting, supporting stand-up comedy and generally making sure I have at least 3 or 4 creative and theoretical projects in process. Always trust the process!
